One of the strongest elements of my NELA experience has been the yearlong administrative internship at a school site. I have the pleasure and honor of working with the awesome staff at Long Mill Elementary School in Franklin County under the tutelage of Kimberly Ferrell. The impact of my experience could not be compared to any textbook or role-play scenario. I was fortunate to be an active participant involved in the day to day role of an administrator. Below is compact list of some of my accomplishments:
  • Assume duties of assistant principal including conducting teacher observations and evaluations, designing professional development program for faculty & staff, and working with students, families and other stakeholders to promote academic achievement
  • Collaborate with school counselor to design and implement Distinguished Leaders Academy, a leadership program for at-risk 5th grade students
  • Actively participate in editing and executing the School Improvement Plan
  • Co-facilitated with Principal Mentor NC Future-READY Core Information to local middle school
  • Recipient of the Prideful Presence Award
